Realistic Training

Sgt showed us a video demostration of section fire and movement. Quite impressive. Our lecture room is not bad too, fully equipped and air conditioned. Thats where we go through our realistic training. Universal round? Whats the point?

Weapon Lesson

Today, we had our first weapon's lesson. Sar21 assault rifle. The new weapon SAF is adopting. I still don't understand why charlie company is using styre aug while we are using something else. Styre Aug really seems more powerful. It has so many additional functions and customizability. Why Sar?

The haircut

All of us had our first ever Crew cut. I asked my Sergeant why as NSF, we must cut our hair. he said that its not because its the army. Its for the purpose of maintaining personal Hygeine. Thats why we must have short hair. Stupid Joomi, he spoilt my MD recorder, now it only records the left audio channel.

My Section

Our bunk is really not bad. Although its not as comfortable as my room, it looks and feel like Costa Sand Resort. I was recording on my MD player when the Sergeant suddenly came in. Luckily I hid my MD recorded under my pillow and didn't get caught.
I have 7 section mates. Good to know that I am in a so called Warrant Officer Company. Delta Company Paltoon 3. Sergeant says rumours about white horses are fake. My friends:

Arriving at Tekong

After a 15 minutes ferry ride, we arrived at Pulau Tekong. Sergeant Tan Bo sia taught us how to march and brought us to our bunk. Only half an hour into NS life, I can sense that everything is no longer the same. Like sergeant said, we are no longer boys. We are now man. Poor Joomi, almost got scolded for being blur.

Enlistment

13th March 2006
(A recount Written in first person)

BMT or basic military training. For the next 8 weeks, thats where I am going to be. My parents were quite anxious about everything. We woke up early at 6. Didn't have much sleep though. Of course, I couldn't sleep. My life's gonna change overnight.

8am, we took the shuttle bus from Pasir Ris Mrt station to Singapore ferry terminal. Pulau Tekong is just a straigh across. There were many others like me. Young 18 years old, not knowing what to anticipate in the months ahead.
